What are the keys to success in your business: Our people. More than 550 volunteers produce the annual Heart O’ Texas Fair & Rodeo as well as many other events throughout the year. We are governed by a 36 member Board of Directors who oversee the strategic planning and goals for the Fair as well as the more than 125 events held at the Extraco Events Center each year. We produce the annual South 40 Fishing Trail and Expo as well as 2 barrel racing events and 2 NRHA Reining Horse shows. In addition, the volunteers help to produce the annual Texas Circuit Finals Rodeo typically held around New Year. Our staff manages all events during the year and takes on key leadership roles at the Fair & Rodeo.

About the Business: The Heart O’ Texas Fair & Rodeo was established in 1953 with the construction of the Heart O’ Texas Coliseum. From the beginning the Fair has leased the facility from McLennan County and no public funds are used for day to day operations. As a non-profit we have two goals: Create economic impact in McLennan County and to give back to Central Texas Youth through scholarships. Each year the facility host more than 125 events that range from equine and livestock shows to large ticketed events such as WWE and Disney on Ice. These events create a $47 million annual economic impact for McLennan County. Annually the attendance at the facility is over 450,000 people. We also rent more than 15,000 horse stalls annually. Our scholarship program has grown over the years from 19 $100 scholarships to more than $250,000 given annually through various program areas including Academic Scholarships, Livestock Show Scholarships, Barrel Racing Scholarships and Texas 4-H Foundation Scholarships. To date we have given more than $2.5 million in scholarships. All of these programs would not be possible without the generosity of our numerous sponsors and business who support our mission.
